The choice usually comes down to fuel, pizza size and how often you will move the oven. These are the quick answers:
All figures come from Ooni's UK product pages, checked in November 2026. Some retailer listings differ, so we have used the maker's own.

Two things stand out:
The simple choice. Connect a propane bottle, hit the ignition and set the flame with the dial. There is no fire to feed, so one person can shape, top and cook without help. The learning curve is launching and turning a pizza in 60 to 90 seconds, not running the oven. For small options from other brands too, compare our mini gas pizza ovens.

An Ooni Karu burns wood or charcoal, and takes a separate burner if you want gas on busy nights. The Ooni Karu 2 Pro includes that burner; on the Ooni Karu 12 and Ooni Karu 2 it is an extra. A live fire needs more attention and is harder to cool down quickly, but many people choose it for the wood-fired cooking itself. Amazon stock changes, so check the grid above, or see our free-standing wood-fired ovens.
This one plugs in and runs without flames. It reaches 450°C in about 12 minutes, and its Boost function bakes a pizza in 90 seconds. It also has oven, grill and dough-proofing settings. Our electric pizza ovens page shows other options.
The 10kg Fyra was sold out on Ooni's UK site when we checked, so treat it as one to look out for. If budget matters most, our cheaper portable pizza ovens are worth a look.
Most buyers face this choice, as the Koda 12 and Koda 16 are still on sale beside the newer ovens. The second generation adds G2 Gas Technology, a tapered flame burner that Ooni says cuts stone temperature swings from 180°C to 45°C, plus pyrolytic cleaning.
The older pair still make sense when weight or budget matters most. The Koda 12 is nearly 7kg lighter than the Koda 2, and both have recently been on offer at Ooni. To compare small ovens across brands, see our 12-inch pizza makers.

A 12-inch oven is fine for one or two people, but leaves little margin when launching and turning. Moving up to 14 or 16 inches gives you more room, which helps beginners as much as big families. All but the Max cook one pizza at a time. For other big ovens, see our extra large pizza ovens.

Ooni suggests steaks, vegetables, dips and skillet sides, and the wider range on newer ovens helps with slower roasting: the Max goes as low as 100°C. Its site also has free recipes, from classic pizza dough to Detroit-style.
Ooni's strength is a wide choice of light, compact ovens. For something more of a garden centrepiece, compare luxury outdoor pizza ovens or DeliVita gas and electric ovens. For a catering business, look at commercial pizza ovens.
Ooni says it has sold more than 3 million ovens worldwide, and long-term owners such as My Pizza Corner rate the build quality and results. The main limit is size, with most baking one pizza at a time.
On Ooni's UK site in November 2026, list prices ran from £299 for the Koda 12 and Karu 12 to £899 for the Max, with some on offer. Prices move often, so check the current price before you buy.
Only the electric Volt 2. All the others are for outdoor use only, as burning fuel in an enclosed space can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
Ooni was founded in 2012 by Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland, starting with a Kickstarter campaign. The ovens are designed in Scotland and made in China.
Between 12 and 30 minutes. The Volt 2 is quickest at 12, most 12-inch ovens take around 15, and the Koda 2 Pro and Max take about 30.
